Dr. Sumiko Hamilton has taught Special Education students at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Sumiko holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Texas, Masters of Public Administration from Texas Southern University and a Masters of Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University.
Sumiko is pursued and completed her Ed.D in Education with a specialize in Special Education at the University of Houston. She is a huge advocate for children with disabilities. She works closely with Katy ISD and CyFair ISD to ensure the students of Smartie Pants Academy Center Houston receives the correct placement, accommodations, and modifications for a successful school year.
Her goal is to make Smartie Pants Academy Center Houston a safe place where special needs children are loved and can learn based on their individual needs while providing supplemental instruction to ensure development and growth.
She wrote her first children’s book titled,
“I’m Normal Too, Josh and his Voice Output Device," in 2013.
